If you have practiced Copperplate for a while, would like to try flourishing but not sure where and how to start, this is the class for you. This workshop aims to refine your copperplate script , even it's a single letter.
In this workshop, we aim to teach you to create flourishes in an airy and daelicate way. They will be written with proper tempo and speed, which is one of the most essential elements for creating a smooth flourish. You will get to learn where is the appropriate space to start, and end your flourishes.
This workshop opens to students who have learnt Copperplate or Modern Script.
If they are done correctly and smoothly, they instantly bring charm and elegance to your writing.
In these two sessions, you will learn:
| A set of principles to flourish
| Flourishing lowercase, uppercase, and double letter by extending and Intersecting lines
| Balancing your flourishes in a word / short phrase with negative space
| Connecting letters / words with a flourish
| Creating smooth, airy, and graceful flourishing while making sure they are adhering to oval shapes
| Training your muscle memory with thoughtful practice
What you will need to prepare for the lesson:
| Your favourite pen holder & nib
| Choice of your ink (black / walnut ink recommended)

The duration of workshop is set as 3-hour per session in order for the instructor to give sufficient individual guidance to each of the student in this small group workshop. A 5-10 mins break will be given in the middle of the lesson for refreshment.
We welcome students to stay after class for questions & discussions. Q&A on social media & WhatsApp are also open to students.
